The Mag Bay 43CC Rockstar Day is a Ticket to Adventure for the Offerman Family of Cape Coral, Florida

Great boats have a way of bringing families together. Such is the case with Rockstar Day, a Mag Bay 43CC recently purchased by the Offerman family of Cape Coral, Florida — Kevin, Kristy, and their 13-year-old twin boys Kameron and Kyle.
The family took delivery of the new Mag Bay 43CC in late 2025, but the process actually started months earlier at the St. Petersburg Power and Sailboat Show, where Kevin and Kristy stopped by the Mag Bay Yachts exhibit to check out the brand and confirm what they’d heard about the company’s reputation for thoughtful design, advanced construction techniques, and yacht-quality attention to detail. The visit evidently made a strong impression, as the couple put a deposit down that very day (as it happens, on their 15th wedding anniversary) to begin building their new dream boat.
Kevin and Kristy’s twin sons were always foremost in their minds as they planned for this new boat and decided on the features and amenities that mattered most. Kameron and Kyle have autism, and not surprisingly, the noise, motion and ever-changing environment of boating can be challenging for them. However, as the Offermans learned, these challenges can be overcome with love, understanding, and thoughtful adaptations. Kevin and Kristy were specifically searching for a boat that would not only “check all the boxes” for themselves as avid boaters and anglers, but also provide their sons with particular features and amenities to keep them comfortable on the water. Among these features are the spacious cabin inside the console, where the boys can get out of the elements if a respite is needed. Additionally, the Release Marine helm seats feature locking armrests that provide the boys with a comforting sense of security and containment.
Anybody who’s run a Mag Bay center console in choppy water can attest to the rock-solid feeling and practically silent ride these boats exhibit. Nothing shakes, nothing rattles, nothing flexes, and the only sound you hear is the sound of the water. The boat’s one-piece, wraparound glass windshield provides protection from wind and noise, another facet of this boat appreciated by the boys and the entire Offerman family. These things and many others convinced these parents that Rockstar Day would be the right boat for their family. If you’re wondering about the name, it stems from a pledge the family made, to begin each day with unbridled optimism — believing that everyone will have a great day worthy of a rock star.
Mag Bay center consoles are built in the high desert of Southern California, about the last place one would expect to see a factory handcrafting offshore center consoles of this caliber. The father-and-son boatbuilding team of Mike and Barrett Howarth are both unapologetic perfectionists, as evidenced in the attention to detail and flawless fit-and-finish found in every boat. The company launched just over 10 years ago with its now iconic 33CC, a model instantly recognizable for its unique lines. Today, the company is building 38CC and 43CC models, with plans to launch an all-new 32CC in early 2027. “There are many good center console boats on the market,” said Mag Bay Yachts’ Mark Barish. “Going the extra mile in terms of components, fit and finish, and quality control is what separates Mag Bay. You see it in all the small details — like the precise way we route wiring and plumbing, our custom-made hardware and fasteners, intricate joinery work, and hand-polished stainless-steel T-tops that shine like jewelry,” added Barish.
This boat may have been built in the Southern California desert, but it is a consummate Florida fishing machine. Kevin is an avid offshore angler, and Rockstar Day is equipped to meet every expectation. The boat’s long list of fishing features includes roughly 500 gallons of insulated underdeck fish box capacity, outriggers, teaser reels, a bait-prep station, tackle storage and a hull-side door to help land large fish. A 75-gallon pressurized bait tank in the transom keeps pilchards, goggle-eyes and other baitfish live and ready for use, with a large viewing window to keep an eye on the precious cargo. The gunwales are festooned with strategically placed rod holders, allowing the optimum positioning of baits and kite rigs while drifting for dolphin and sailfish. Add in the jewelry-like stainless steel rocket launchers on the T-Top frame, and Rockstar Day boasts 44 rod holders in total. Kevin and Kristy traveled to Mag Bay’s California factory during the boat’s construction to work with the team to position rod holders and fine tune some of the features; exemplifying how the company works with clients to make sure they get precisely the boat they want.
“From the moment a client first orders a Mag Bay, their family becomes part of our family,” said Barish. “We work closely with our customers to create a boat that’s uniquely theirs. This can be seen in such things as optional features and color choices to the positioning of rod holders.” The Offermans desired Starlink connectivity and extra charging ports around the boat to ensure easy and reliable access to entertainment for their kids. “We take pride in connecting with our customers in this way,” added Barish. “Mag Bay owners love to come to our boat show exhibits and just hang out with us, sharing stories with us and other members of our family. These relationships mean a lot to us.”
Performance
Rockstar Day is built to make short order of long runs to the fishing grounds, thanks in part to Mag Bay’s patented Cross-Step hull and four 425 hp Mercury Outboards standing shoulder-to-shoulder across the transom. Mag Bay’s performance tests show that the 43CC can eclipse a top speed of 70 mph at 6,450 rpm. Her fast-cruising speed is 48.5 mph at 4,450 rpm, with a range of about 489 miles, even at that blistering pace. With this combination of speed, ride, and range, there won’t be too many hot bites out of reach in a typical day of fishing.
Going fast is something that Kameron and Kyle have grown to appreciate given the Mag Bay 43’s composed ride and sense of security. They’ve even taken to encouraging Kevin to “go fast, Daddy,” a thrill he’s all too happy to share with the whole family. Kevin is especially looking forward to sharing his passion for fishing with the boys as they get more confident spending more time on the water.
Family Initiative Opens Doors to Adventure
Kevin and Kristy largely credit their ability to build family memories on Rockstar Day to Family Initiative, a Cape Coral, Florida-based non-profit behavioral analysis and autism support organization. What they learned there helped the boys — who were non-verbal until age five — develop communication, social skills, and more. The increased knowledge and specialized techniques the family developed through Family Initiative helped the Offerman clan build confidence in the idea of buying Rockstar Day, their second boat. Kevin and Kristy have become steadfast supporters of Family Initiative and enjoy sharing what they have learned and how they have grown together as a family.
Today, the twins are very enthusiastic about boating and spending time on the water as a family. As their confidence and experience grow over time, it appears the Offermans will be building boating and fishing memories by the boatload.
