Mark Maus is a familiar face among the legions of Yellowfin boat owners. For more than 18 years, Maus and his wife Alexandra Maus, along with Captain Dillon Maus, have been competitively sport fishing and for many of those years, he was driving a Yellowfin. And in 2013, he became a pioneer in the world of upscale boat decking when he formed OceanGrip, one of the major players in the world of the closed cell EVA foam adhesive backed boat decking material that has become so popular among center-console boat owners. Such products provide a cushioned area to stand on, greatly benefiting your body when underway at high speed, and they also give a firm grip, helpful on wet and sloppy days offshore. On top of all that, they simply make a boat look great. These days, Maus serves as the Research and Development Engineer for Raymarine, testing and advising the company on their line of top quality marine electronics.
As Team Raymarine, Maus and his crew fish aboard their 36 Yellowfin center console, which is powered by three of the new Honda V8 BF350s. They also use TACO Pro Series GS-390 Outrigger Mounts, 19-foot internal and collapsible carbon fiber outriggers, ShadeFin, Transom Cross Tie Portable Cleats and other sport fishing and dockside accessories.
The triple Hondas provide excellent performance, cruising at 41.9 mph at 4000 rpm while getting 1.3 mpg, and topping out at 64.9 mph at 6135 rpm. Maus is also the founder of Team Raymarine1 with a SeaVee 270Z powered by twin 300 Honda McLaren outboards equipped with TACO Grand Slam 390 Outrigger Systems and ShadeFin. In addition to being the Raymarine R&D Engineer, Maus and Team Raymarine are regulars at boat shows and other marine industry events. The team fishes most offshore, pelagic events.
