The new Contender 29 Bay joins that company’s fleet as the largest bay boat in the lineup. With a length of 29 feet and a 9’6” beam, it runs on the large side of most bay boats. But it can still get into water shallow enough to chase most skinny-water fish.
However, the 29’s size also makes it a highly capable offshore performer. Its combination of size, speed and ride provide versatility that few other boats can match. It’s the kind of boat that performs a great many tasks well. It will be a great choice for those who want one boat that can do it all.
The 29 comes with a double-stepped hull for efficiency and speed. Combine that with power options up to twin 350 hp outboards, and you have exceptional performance. But the 29’s mission centers around fishing, and as with all Contenders, it excels there as well. An ergonomically designed layout and an extensive standard equipment list contribute greatly to this.
For example, two 26-gallon livewells with 1100 gph pumps sit in the aft casting deck. In addition, you’ll find two 30-gallon fish boxes aft as well. An 85-gallon fish box lies in the sole forward of the console. Massive storage capacity comes from an 80-gallon dry compartment and two 30-galllon compartments, also forward. Plus, there’s an 85-quart cooler beneath the forward step. And forward you’ll find cushioned bench seating and a large anchor locker.
Other notable standard features include Seakeeper Ride and a 25-gallon freshwater system. The console features an oversized surface for electronics, six cup holders and a side-entry door. And the fixed-back leaning post has a back rest, four rod holders, a cooler base and a sub-seat tray. The engines mount on heavy duty jack plates.
Whether you’re a family fisherman or a hard-core tournament competitor, the Contender 29 Bay might be the perfect all-around boat. Contender Boats; contenderboats.com
